Equity Entry Points

A commitment to equitable education is at the heart of our work, and is embodied in our dedication to culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogy (CRSP) — one of our six core principles. We believe that educators who cultivate culturally relevant and sustaining spaces will help build a more equitable educational experience for every student.

Data analysis

Picture
Analyzing data — whether it's state test scores, attendance data, or classroom data — gives us an opportunity to see patterns and trends that reflect visible and invisible issues in equity. When using data as an entrypoint, we can cultivate a shared understanding of where our systems and structures are producing or reproducing inequity.

Curriculum & pedagogy

Developing an anti-racist, inclusive curricula alongside culturally responsive, relevant, and sustaining instruction is an investment in a culturally conscious future. We want to rewrite the map of what, why, and how we're teaching so that we can catalyze a generational shift that embraces the validity and humanity of all people.

Community identity

When we're able to acknowledge the me (personal identity) and the we (community identity), we can focus on cultivating the self and social awareness that is essential for relationship building, problem solving, and conflict resolution — three key components necessary for changing culture.

Shared language

Developing shared historical knowledge and norming language towards inclusivity are foundational to becoming an anti-racist culture. Our present is a result of a shared past, and our future is dependend on how we refine ourselves in the present. We seek common ground through common knowledge and shared goals.

Cultivating Conversation

As a complement to nearly two decades of supporting teachers and school leaders, our Teaching Today podcast provides a platform for meaningful dialogue with educators, researchers, and school leaders. Central to these conversations is a focus on equity, ensuring that the voices of diverse educators and communities are heard, and that we explore ways to create inclusive, equitable learning environments for all students.
