Morse Fellowship for Supporting New Teachers
We are currently seeking Teachers College students who are enrolled in a Master's, EdM or Doctoral program, possess three or more years of K-12 teaching experience, and are interested in expanding their skills in professional development. 
​

The Enid and Lester Morse Fellowship is a selective fellowship for students interested in the mentoring and professional development of new teachers. This financial award is offered through the Center for Professional Education of Teachers (CPET).

The Morse Fellow will work directly with Teachers College graduates in the field who are members of the New Teacher Network (NTN@TC). As a Morse Fellow, you will gain practical experience in professional development by collaborating with NTN@TC coaches, mentoring new teachers, and assisting in the delivery of professional development programs. Along with a team of CPET coaches, curriculum developers, and instructional specialists, the Fellow will support the provision of services to new teachers in underserved schools.

Responsibilities include: 
  • Coaching New Teacher Network members (40%)
  • General support for the New Teacher Network (50%)
  • CPET community professional learning (10%)

The ideal candidate will:
  • Be participating in a Masters, EdM or Doctorate degree program at Teachers College, Columbia University 
  • Have a minimum of 3 years K-12 teaching experience
  • Have the capacity to commit 7-10 hours per week to this role
  • Be available Fridays, during the school day, for professional learning
  • Be available to meet with early-career teachers, both online and in person at TC
  • See professional development as a catalyst for teacher retention
  • Have a desire to participate in a dynamic professional community

Professional Development Fellow for K-12 Educators
We are currently seeking Teachers College students who are enrolled in a Master's, EdM or Doctoral program, possess three or more years of K-12 teaching experience, and are interested in expanding their skills in professional development. 

This Fellowship provides students with an opportunity to engage in real-world projects, develop coaching and professional development skills alongside seasoned facilitators, receive mentorship and customized support through experiential and project-based learning, and cultivate transferable professional skills beyond the classroom. 

We are currently recruiting for all subject areas and grade levels. 


Desired availability:
  • 8 - 16 hrs per week (on average)
  • Available during school days (8am - 4pm)
  • Available on Fridays for professional learning and mentoring

The right candidates will:​
  • Be enrolled in a MA, EdM, or Doctoral degree program at Teachers College, Columbia University
  • Have a passion for education and a desire to work alongside other educators
  • Have three or more years of teaching experience in grades K-12 (Elementary, Middle, and/or High School)
  • Have experience working within one/some of the these specific content areas: Math, Humanities, Social Studies, Science, ELA, Special Education, ELL/ENL
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be self-motivated and capable of working both collaboratively and independently
  • Be familiar with one or more of the following: curriculum planning, project-based learning, differentiating instruction, assessment design, creating classroom culture, literacy instruction, data-informed instruction

The ideal candidates will also have:
  • Teaching/coaching experience in NYC public schools
  • Familiarity with performance tasks and how they operate in a cycle of assessment
  • Experience with international education
  • Experience and interest in facilitating through multiple modalities
