Building a foundation for the future
The New Teacher Network at Teachers College (NTN@TC) is a community of practice for Teachers College's newest teacher graduates. NTN@TC membership is offered free of charge to Teachers College graduates in their first three years of teaching. Since its establishment in 2014, nearly 250 Teachers College graduates have connected to the network to participate in its custom blend of in-person and online collaboration, personalized support through customized professional development workshops, personalized coaching, and to be part of a dedicated NTN@TC online community.

NTN@TC’s online community offers asynchronous, peer-to-peer dialogue about the issues most pressing to early-career teachers. We support network members by providing a discussion forum, a library of digital resources, and the ability to request immediate assistance from one of our coaches. Teachers are able to pose challenges to the community, share successes, and upload materials for feedback from their peers.

In addition to the support they receive through our online community, NTN@TC members also have access to our in-person workshops and conferences, several of which are tailored specifically for the experiences of new teachers. Members can attend these opportunities at a discounted rate, and receive customized support for the early phases of their careers.

To join the network, submit an application and tell us a little bit about yourself. We hope to hear from you soon!

FAQ
Am I eligible to join the network?
Membership is currently open to Teachers College graduates who are in their first three years of teaching. More experienced teachers, or teachers who are not graduates of Teachers College are not eligible for membership at this time.
How much does membership cost?
There is no cost associated with being a member of the New Teacher Network. While some workshops or online courses you choose may have an associated fee (dependent on your selection), there is no cost to join or simply be a part of the network.
What happens after I submit my application?
We'll review your submission and confirm your eligibility for the network. If we determine that you're eligible to join, you'll receive a confirmation message from our team, welcoming you to the network and offering more information. On average, this process takes about a week. If you're ever wondering about the status of your application, you can send us a message at ntn@tc.edu.
I'm a current member — how do I find discounted PD opportunities?
Visit our upcoming events page to look for events that offer a membership discount. Typically, these will be indicated with an * after the price, and a note in the description stating that a discount is available for NTN members. You can also check the FAQ section of any event page if you're unsure whether or not a discount exists
How do I receive the member code needed to register for a PD opportunity?
To receive your membership discount code, you'll need to contact ntn@tc.edu so that your membership can be verified. Once it's been verified, you'll receive a promo code that will discount your registration 100%. You'll still be required to complete a registration form
I'm interested in attending a workshop / conference / institute that doesn't offer an NTN membership discount — am I allowed to attend?
Absolutely! However, you will need to pay the associated fee during registration. In many cases, schools are able to pay this fee on your behalf, either via purchase order or a credit card. We can help you get this process started — just send us a message at ntn@tc.edu.
I'm not a TC alum, but I'm a new teacher — how can I receive support?
There are several ways you can receive support:
  • All of our upcoming PD opportunities are open to all K-12 educators — although we can't offer you a discounted registration rate, you are absolutely welcome to attend any opportunity that feels relevant to you.
  • Join our mailing list, which will allow you access to professional development articles and resources that can help you in your journey as an educator.
  • If you're seeking support that will take place at your school, reach out to us to learn more about our on-site services. In many cases, your school will be able to cover the costs of these services, which will include customized coaching designed to support your specific situation.
I attended one of your networking events in the past — am I allowed to attend again?
Yes! Teachers College students or graduates who are eligible for membership, along with current members, are welcome to attend our annual networking event.
