The New Teacher Network at Teachers College (NTN@TC) is a community of practice for Teachers College's newest teacher graduates.  Since its establishment in 2014, it NTN@TC has delivered essential support to over 300 early-career teachers.

About the Network

The New Teacher Network, part of TC's Center for Professional Education of Teachers (CPET), is dedicated to ensuring that new teachers have all the support they need in order to meet rigorous expectations while they make the shift from student to teacher.​

Purpose


As TC's only in-service professional learning program for teachers, the New Teacher Network provides practical support for early-career educators, as they not only survive their first three years of teaching, but thrive as leaders in the field of education.

Courtney Brown
Director, NTN@TC

Grounded in the philosophies of project-based learning and literacy across the disciplines, Courtney supports school leaders and teachers to develop culturally relevant curriculum and practices in order to enable students and schools to thrive and achieve their potential. As a Senior Professional Development Advisor at CPET and Director of NTN@TC, her work includes a focus on cultivating strengths in early-career teachers, developing PLCs, and  implementing schoolwide practices to support struggling schools to leverage mandates. Courtney's work is informed by her range of experiences as a high school and middle school teacher of English and the humanities. She feels privileged to work with educators in NYC and collaborate with her colleagues at CPET.​

Who can apply? 

Membership is open to Teachers College graduates who are in their first three years of teaching. More experienced teachers, or teachers who are not graduates of Teachers College are not eligible for membership at this time. 

What does it cost? 

Membership to the network is free, and joining is simple! Submit your application below. Once accepted, you will receive an invitation connecting you to our online community, and can begin taking advantage of network benefits immediately.

Am I eligible to join the network?
Membership is open to Teachers College graduates who are in their first three years of teaching. More experienced teachers, or teachers who are not graduates of Teachers College are not eligible for membership at this time. 
How much does membership cost?
There is no cost associated with being a member of the New Teacher Network.

While professional learning opportunities hosted by the Center for Professional Education of Teachers (CPET) may have an associated fee (dependent on your selection), there is no cost to join or simply be a part of the network.
What happens after I submit my application?
We'll review your submission and confirm your eligibility for the network. If we determine that you're eligible to join, you'll receive a confirmation message from our team, welcoming you to the network and offering more information. If you're ever wondering about the status of your application, you can send us a message at [email protected].
I'm a current member — how do I find discounted PD opportunities?
We regularly share all upcoming free and discounted opportunities with members via email and our community group. 
How do I receive the member code needed to register for a PD opportunity?
To receive your membership discount code, you'll need to contact [email protected] so that your membership can be verified. Once it's been verified, you'll receive a promo code that will discount your registration. You'll still be required to complete a registration form.
I'm interested in a PD opportunity that doesn't offer an NTN membership discount — am I allowed to register?
Absolutely! However, you will need to pay the associated fee during registration. In many cases, schools are able to pay this fee on your behalf, either via purchase order or a credit card. We can help you get this process started — just send us a message at [email protected]. 
I'm not a TC alum, but I'm a new teacher — how can I receive support?
There are several ways you can receive support:
  • Register for one of our upcoming PD opportunities, which are open to all K-12 educators. Although we can't offer you a discounted registration rate, you are absolutely welcome to attend any opportunity that feels relevant to you. 
  • Join our mailing list, which will allow you access to professional development articles and resources that can help you in your journey as an educator. 
  • If you're seeking support that will take place at your school, reach out to us to learn more about our on-site services. In many cases, your school will be able to cover the costs of these services, which will include customized coaching designed to support your specific situation. 
I attended one of your networking events in the past — am I allowed to attend again?
Yes! Teachers College students or graduates who are eligible for membership, along with current members, are welcome to attend our annual networking event. ​
