Coach effectively & inspire change
The process of coaching educators requires a complex and critical set of skills, and it differs greatly from educating and supporting students. Facilitating challenging conversations, offering actionable feedback, and increasing community and collaboration can be daunting, especially if you have not previously practiced instructional coaching. How can you strengthen and grow the leadership skills necessary to coach effectively and inspire change?

Throughout this five-part course, we’ll unite theory and practice as we delve into the core values that inform our coaching philosophy, explore adult learning principles, and equip you with actionable strategies for your professional growth. Whether you identify as a coach, a teacher leader, or a school or district administrator, this course will allow you to coach with confidence and compassion.

Cultivating Strengths: Classroom visits
Guiding principle: Classroom visits are often a key component of professional development for teachers, and to be effective, coaches need to recognize opportunities to cultivate each teacher's strengths. There are tools for making them positive and productive.
Critical Reflection: Classroom debriefs
Guiding principle: Classroom visits support improvement; the debrief after visits offer opportunities for critical, professional reflection on practice.
Cycles of Inquiry: Meaningful meetings
Guiding principle: Meetings become most meaningful when they are framed by a cycle of inquiry that offers participants the opportunity to learn, apply, and revise their practices.
Communities of Practice: Effective workshop planning
Guiding principle: Workshops are most productive when they create a supportive, safe community for exploration and growth.
Contextualized Design: Action planning for productive projects
Guiding principle: In order to take on  crucial projects for educational improvement, we can develop customized plans, that address the specific needs, context, and goals of our professional community.
