How did you end up working with CPET?

Having worked in education for 4+ years nothing is more satisfying than watching students achieve that "ahhhha" moment. My role at CPET is to assist teachers to maximize their students' potential and create the right conditions/atmosphere for true learning to happen in order to achieve a magnitude of "a-ha" moments.

What are your current research interests and current projects?

My current research involves investigating new platforms or vehicles to progress Math education during the 21st century. I’m currently working on 2 projects:
  1. Blended learning model that utilizes the technological shift we are in now. Students receive instruction both from the teacher and online resources; they have autonomy over time, pace and instruction.
  2. Math education research has primarily focused on classroom structures and curriculum implementation and continues to ignore an Popular Culture as a factor. I'm currently examining the manifestation of Popular Culture affects on Math Education.

How does CPET seek educational equity while navigating complicated mandates and policy shifts?

CPET does a great job giving their coaches autonomy while supporting their vision. CPET provides monthly informative PD’s to keep coaches aware of policy changes and consistently aligns their personal goals to echo the modifications.

If your life was a movie, what genre would it be, who would play you, and what is one song you want on the soundtrack?

My life would have to be an animated movie because it borders the line between fiction and reality; plus one of my favorite movies of all time is The Lion King. I don’t know how, but the writers would need to find a suitable place for Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” track. Sounds like a winner to me!

If you could choose one word to summarize CPET's philosophy what would it be?
